This book by Robert Bringhurst. I’ve been looking for this for ages. (didn’t want to get it from amazon) Finally I’ve found it re-stocked at Kinokuniya today 😀
After 2 short chapters, it came as no surprise that the famous typographer Hermann Zapf had such high praise for this book. It is beautifully written, with clear and thougtful insight throughout (Bringhurst is also a famous canadian poet). I like many of his metaphores.
*Note* I found something amusing today while searching for blog entries about this book (there are very many). At “Foreword — A Book Design Blog”:http://www.ospreydesign.com/foreword someone mentioned a news at “Typographica”:http://typographi.ca/000738.php talking about what is claimed to be “the world’s first-ever negative critique of Robert Bringhurst”. That is how good this book is! 🙂
