ไม่นานนี้นี้มีคนใน blogroll เขียนถึง เลยได้รู้ว่า "กรุงเทพธุรกิจ":http://www.bangkokbiznews.com มี rss feed แล้ว รวมกับ "The Nation":http://www.nationmultimedia.com/ ก็เป็นสองเจ้า สำหรับหนังสือพิมพ์เมืองไทย เป็น RSS 2.0 ทั้งสองเจ้า และมี excerpt ให้อ่านสองสามบรรทัด ซึ่งก็เหมือนๆ กับ feed ของสำนักข่าวส่วนใหญ่ ซึ่งยังพยายามต้านแรงกดดัน ไม่ยอมมี full feed ให้ได้อ่านกัน

จากสองเจ้านี้ The Nation ทำได้ดีกว่าเล็กน้อย คือมี "autodiscovery":http://diveintomark.org/archives/2002/05/30/rss_autodiscovery ทำให้ subscribe ได้สะดวกกว่าจาก web based reader หลายเจ้า แต่ feed ก็ไม่ valid กันทั้งคู่ โดยอาการของ "nation feed":http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nationmultimedia... ดีกว่าเล็กน้อย นอกจากเรือง format วันที/เวลา ก็เกือบผ่านแล้ว

แล้วเมื่อวานก็มาเจอรายที่สาม "rssthai.com":http://rssthai.com ไม่รู้ว่าพลาดไปได้ยังไง ดูจากข้อมูลโดเมนก็จดไว้ตั้งแต่กลางปี 2005 รายนี้เป็น content scraper คล้ายๆ "norsorpor.com":http://norsorpor.com แต่มี feed รวมและแยกหมวดให้ใช้ได้ (อ่านบนเว็บเลยก็ได้เหมือนกัน) เท่าที่ลองดูข่าวก็ update เร็วใช้ได้ กับมีอีกอันที่น่าสนใจคือ feed กระทู้จาก pantip.com ที่ตามกระทู้หนึ่งต่อหนึ่งเลย ไม่รู้ทำยังไง

Each "IEEE":ieee.org journals and conference proceedings now has RSS feeds that you can subscribe to. The feeds contain titles and abstracts, and are going to make my life that little bit easier.

เมืองไทยรายสัปดาห์ podcast

ไม่ได้ติดตามเรื่องราวกับเค้าหรอก ว่ารายการ "เมืองไทยรายสัปดาห์":http://www.manager.co.th/thailandweekly/ โดนปลดด้วยเรื่องอะไร ก็ไม่เคยดูมาก่อน วันนี้ได้ลองฟังเพราะเห็นว่ามันมี "podcast":http://mac.thaidayradio.com/podcasts/ ด้วย เป็น podcast ภาษาไทยอันแรกที่เคยเห็น (ส่วนนึงเพราะไม่เคยหา) มี "flash tutorial":http://mac.thaidayradio.com/ การใช้ podcast ด้วย

เท่าที่ลองฟังดู เริ่มมี podcast ตั้งแต่ช่วงที่รายการโดนปลด และเปลี่ยนรูปแบบเป็นรายการ "สัญจร" ก็เลยเหมือนรายการด่าคุณทักษินมากกว่า ก็เลยไม่ได้ฟังจนจบ (รายการทีละชั่วโมงด้วย ยาวมาก กว่าจะได้มาสามตอนนี่ก็เกือบยี่สิบนาที)

Bloglines feeling the heat

News sources usually refer to Newsgator and desktop feed reader as ones most threaten with the arrival of "Google Reader.":http://www.google.com/reader/lens/ For me, "Bloglines":http://www.bloglines.com has been the only practical choice. (And now Reader is too)

Not long ago, Bloglines has just introduced keyboard shortcuts, which is one feature I like about Reader. Imitation is the best form of flattery? 8)

Google Reader

Another _Beta_ from Google, after the Map just lost its beta status. "Google Reader":http://www.google.com/reader is quite different from any online feed reader I have came across. It's full of AJAX tricks and feel very responsive, and let you tag and _star_ feeds like in Gmail.

I'm still coming to term with how it display feeds. It successfully imported my Bloglines OPML with 126 feeds in it, and convert folder name into tag. (nice!) But to have to read each post one by one instead of scrolling down is a no no for me.

Aggregating things personal

More and more sites are offering feeds nowadays, and those I find especially useful are the social networking sites. These also pop up on almost a weekly basis, and most of them are useful even for personal realm. I've tried using them to collect and categorize

* "webpages":http://del.icio.us/dubber
* "musics":http://www.last.fm/user/chrisada
* "scientific papers":http://www.citeulike.org/user/chrisada
* "things to do":http://www.43things.com/person/chrisada
* "social networking sites":http://supr.c.ilio.us/
* "Places I go online":http://www.plazes.com/

More are probably out there. These sites offer content syndication in one form or another, and it is such a useful way of organizing data because each of them were made for a particular content type in mind. It might be possible to use Drupal's "flexinode":http://drupal.org/node/5737 (or the new CCK(Content Construction Kit) ) to tailor a node type to fit a content type (say movie I went to) reasonably well, but why reinvent the wheel?

Drupal can aggregate RSS (and soon Atom), so I have been "aggregating":http://ichris.ws/aggregator/sources these into this site. I haven't decie how exploit these to the fullest, but honestly it's already quite useful.
